Life comes and goes, yet you remain present
When I first met you, I had a warm, familiar feeling,
remember by the end of the night
we were finishing each others conversations?
I told you about my life
and you told me about yours,
how similar they were, and that night,
we knew that we would remain friends forever..
Remember during our teen years,
we cried on each others shoulders when one of our "loves" left us,
and how we talked on the phone for hours,
talking about everything, and nothing all at once.
Remember going to the Prom with each other, and ending up being stuck
in the middle of nowhere... our dates had blown a tire,
and we sat there and laughed. The night we promised to "no matter what"
be there for each other, not even death could keep us apart.
Remember when we were stuck out in the rain,
the night before graduation
and ended up the next day tired
and barly making up the stage to get our diplomas?
I remember helping you pack when you went away to college,
and we promised to stay in touch and we did...
You were my Maid of honor when Jason and I got married,
and when you and Brandon did I was yours.
I named my first girl after you, Crystal Starr,
and you named your first after me, Genesis Kimberly...
Now those kids are grown,
and we still remain friends,
when I needed you the most you were there,
and when you needed me I was there.
But now you are gone..
and I miss all the times you held my hand, and was there for me,
but now it is my time to remember you,
and now it is my time to tell you.. "I love you",
and I remember the promise we made, so long ago sitting in the car
talking about the prom, and that I promise to be there soon,
I promise that we will be friends, forever,
and just know, Crystal, I love you, and I miss you,
but I know you are there for me, waiting for me to come,
