Today I Love
You think the world is mostly ill,
That trouble is to be our fill.
Yet, someday you will surely find
All that's real is in man's mind.
It takes no practice to be sad,
The day soon comes when all goes bad.
No printed word, no song, nor friend
Can ease the pain or bid it end.
Just let me love while yet I see
The joy the world is offering me.
Then when at last my dreams depart,
And I need faith to soothe my heart,
I'll not be burdened with the fears
That you've implanted through the years.
Today I'll share love full and deep,
When love is gone, then I shall weep.
