The Last Spirit

By: Nadia Varkovsky

Many girls have crossed my life's path
They come and go,
Like chaff being winnowed from grain
But you're different

There's something in you
Something in your eyes
Which I noticed the first time we met
That sparked a ray of light in my shadowy heart

Day by day passed, days slowly turned to months
As I long for you and you ignoring me
Never had I realize
How truly stunning and attractive you are

Your eyes are as lucid as Phoebus
Your smile as dulcet as sugar to my lips
Your face is more beautiful than
The sun, moon and stars put together

Didn't Cupid's wings carry him far enough from you?
So that he saw me and take aim
Firing precisely and unhindered through the air
The love arrow sliced right through my heart

Yes, that's true girl...
After all these things I've gone through
Finally, my heart is prepared to say
I'm in love for the first time and it's you

Nevertheless, girl...
Since we know each other for the first time
So many things have happened
Which bring both woe and joy to my heart

But I just have to accept reality
The giant hands of time never slow down
The painful truth of amorous relationships
The evil blade of fate slicing through my life

I am sick girl but not physically
For this pain in my heart
Is immortal and incurable
Except by you...
