Dear Mother

By: Angela Lynn Zander

Dear Mother,

I am writing you this letter
you will probably never read
I know now you're not getting better
but some things I choose not to see

Mother, I want to apologize
and please do not protest,
you have always tried your hardest for me
and always did your best

But as a daughter
I must admit for you I made it rough
I argued with you lots of times
and did some other stuff

Momma, I'm sorry but I thought
I would have the time to apologize
I thought you would be here
through High School, angst, and guys

I was sure you would see my wedding
and my children, too
and I can picture your face
when you realized the grandma now is you

But it seems now Dear Mother
that time has slipped away
I should have realized my faults
so long before today
