In A Little Boy's Eyes

By: Randy DeMedici

Awakened with a start, a little boy's eyes open;
Darkness surrounds him as he realizes he's alone.

Tears come to his eyes and in a desperate cry
he calls for his father to comfort him;
But his cries go unheard... his voice
echoing in the night.

As fear engulfs him, his feelings of confinement
grow stronger;
His face wet with tears, his eyes begin to clear.

He sees where he is... he sees who he is...
I am not a little boy alone, I am a man;
I am not a man alone, I am a father;

And as my little boy's eyes open,
he realizes he is not alone.
Someday he will be a man;
He will be a father;

And someday he will be able to see...
His little boy's eyes open.
