JACY AND CATRINA
Life sprang from my womb twice
one boy, one girl
I watched with awe
as ink dot eyes and small lips
beheld the wonder of living
so precious and tiny
These new beginnings
tested and magnified
the quality of my existence
For as their bodies grew
I learned the virtue of patience
and in their quest for knowing
I begin to understand
the depths of wisdom
They overwhelm me
with their innocent love
true hearts reaching out
with a burning desire to please.
What can my feeble hands
and tired feet offer them?
All the love that I have
all the strength and knowledge
I can give
all the hope and beauty
that is within me
and then some
I have been given
priceless treasures
which I will protect
for as long as they let me
and when they stand
strong and ready
then will I let them go.
