Mommy

By: Michele Sanschagrin

Mommy told her daughter,
"Take it easy, take it slow."
The girl said "I'm sorry mommy,
But I really must go."
Momma waved her hand,
As she tried to understand.
She was now a million miles away,
And her momma would still pray.
If only she would know,
If she could tell her so...
He's only there for trouble,
Then he'd let her go.
But she knew the dream,
Of her grown up teen.
She waited up all night,
For her baby to come home.
It was getting very late,
And she felt so alone.
Momma got a phone call at a quarter past four,
And found her baby girl crying on the floor.
One morning she got up and left her room,
She looked at her mommy and said it was too soon.
She was only seventeen...
She held her momma tight, and told her not to cry,
She wiped her tears until her eyes were dry.
She remembered that night,
She should've taken it easy.
And she remembered mommy's words,
As she held her new born baby...
