My Boo

By: Beth Ann Rock

Our conversations are getting shorter -
Our times together are few.
Another thing that's different
Is the every-so-often "I love you."

The knots in our stomaches are gone
While falling tears take their place.
The phone doesn't ring often these days.
I need to look at a picture to see your face.

The words used to flow out of our mouths.
Now awkward silences are there.
Words of love came easy then,
Now we stumble for words to show we care.

I think the inevitable has reached us.
I know you feel it in your heart.
Now the future is beyond us.
Now we have fallen apart.

Neither of us can hurt the other,
It's always been that way.
But we're hanging on together by threads.
You know what I'm trying to say.

I could never tell you "It's over..."
Or "It's time to make a new start."
But I can say goodbye by saying
Our love, my dear, has fallen apart.

But I'll always love you.
