The Break Up

By: Robert Anthony James

I miss the soft sounds of her quiet sleep,
Gentle whispers in the night
sweet songbirds keep
when they are gray...
but now all I do is hope...
as time forever passes in a day.

Fault is meaningless when speaking to the wind
You! O paradise are so far away... but I pretend.
O how I long for that precious star of the night;
My heart glows the highest when she's bright.

But have my own hands covered thy glory with
clouds of stubbornness?
Why must my foolish ways stop thy kiss?
Let heaven's own hands gather, I say,
And thy rays of hope break the light of day.
