Lemon Desire

By: Robert Patrizio

I was drawn to her eyes, then caught in her scent
And then when she smiled, I knew what was meant
Next lost in her voice and soft fingertips
Ending the night in the taste of her lips.

A simple hello, a simple night spent
Lemon desire, an unexpected event
A sip of the surreal, an intoxication
Surrounding the senses, a subtle creation.

A lemon desire, such storybook eyes
The color of hazel, the spirit of smile
The glances I stole under the guise
Of watching her words all of the while.

A lemon desire, the sound of her voice
Amidst soothing speech, I was left with no choice
Her manner of speaking, sensuous, soft
Elegance spoken in words and in thoughts.

A lemon desire, with scented delight
A sense of her heart, the essence she shared
A way to remember the fragrance that night
Her skin’s soft aroma in the cool morning air.

A lemon desire, held in her hands
Hands which when touched, felt in my heart
Her fingers, the petals of soft velvet flowers
Controlled me that night, from worlds far apart.

A lemon desire, flowed on pursed lips
A taste so enticing, a texture I’d missed
And at evening’s end, after a few final sips
Her lips, for the moment, surrendered a kiss...
