It's Always been You

By: Aaron Michael Smith

Walkin’ in the sunshine
With her hand holdin’ mine
With the breeze in our hair
But life’s not fair
'Cause she’s got your touch
The touch I need so much

Sittin’ on the porch swing
Watching her smiling
'Cause she’s there with me
But it’s so frustrating
'Cause she’s got your smile
The smile I haven’t seen in a while

That’s when I know
It’s always been you
The affection I show
It’s always for you
The one’s I’ve known
Have pieces of you
Somehow I’ve known
It’s always been you

Watchin’ today’s sunrise
Reflect in her deep brown eyes
But thoughts of you
Interrupt and break through
'Cause she’s got your eyes
The eyes that make my spirits rise

Now I’m sittin’ here alone
For a while, I’ve been on my own
Thinking about you
Wanting to hold you
'Cause you complete my dream
You have always been my dream

That’s why I know
It’s always been you
The affection I show
It’s always for you
The one’s I’ve known
Have pieces of you
Deep down I know
It’ll always be you

Don’t you see, it’ll always be you
