Take Not Your Life!

By: Sunday B. Fakus

This love you have is the first of your life
And the best of all the ones you’ve ever had.
You proclaim to the world you’re deeply in love
And confident you feel your love would last.

In turbulent times the love treads unstable paths
And progressed from rocky start to sinking sand.
Before your eyes the love dwindles and recedes...
And nothing else could mend the broken dreams.

You love to death and are full of threats
Willing to take your life if this love should die.
So you think it’s right to cut short your life
If this one you love leaves you behind.

But this love you gained and greatly wish to retain
Was once lost by somebody who felt the same...
What you lose today somebody else would gain
The love you missed can never be lost.

So, it worth not the price to take your life...
For love would always beat a path to your heart.
The best of love, my friend, is yet to come
There’s always room for lasting romance.
