The Coil Unwinds

By: Daydred Easton

You've offered your promise.
I've taken it so many times.
Now I lay broken
and the coil unwinds.
What is it that grabs you
and directs your mind?
Who is it that talks to you
as the coil unwinds?
You slapped me in the face
telling stories and lies.
but to you I show not a trace
as the coil unwinds.
Now things have gone wrong
but this fault lies within.
Just as it always happens
I know I’ll run to you again.
I let you in and you show me something new.
A love that I’ve always tried to find.
Piece by piece my trust is brought back
and this coil, slowly, it winds.
