Love Hurts

By: Lee

The door slammed, your final statement
as you walked away my anger turned to tears.
The falling snow covered your footsteps,
removing all traces of you.
You do exist, if only in my heart.

The silence screamed reminders of lover's rage
vented anger, echos of harmful words and deeds
we did to each other.
How does good love go bad?

The first time together as one,
the pleasure so intense, we cried.
Arms wrapped around the other,
our hearts and minds as one.
We vowed never to be apart.

At first, our love was self sustaining;
we needed no one else.
We played outdo the other
to show how much we cared.

Slowly, we drifted apart.
I don't know who changed the game.
Why, who started, doesn't matter.
Who could hurt the other...
We played the game so well.

All I have are memories of you:
inside my head, under my skin.
You will always be a part of me.
Your touch, your laugh, your scent.
I will always be in love with you.
