Maybe Just Maybe

By: tess303

Show me how to say good-bye,
teach me how, not to cry.
Touch my hand as you did my heart.
When things were right at the start.

Lend me your eyes when I need to see.
For I am on my own, lonely.
Pray for me before you sleep at night,
because my blackened heart, doesn’t beat so right.

Lend me an ear, when I have something to say.
Hug me and hold me, give me time of day.
Whisper everything will be alright,
Keep me safe from my dreams in the night.

For if this is something you can not do,
replace your feelings with a picture of you.
And in that picture I will see,
Those eyes I once looked into, looking back at me.

Maybe just maybe that will heal my heart,
From this lonely feeling from our part.
And then one day when you come to me,
I will replace myself with a picture of thee.

And maybe just maybe you’ll know the pain,
The hurt, and bruises that I now contain.
