The Endless Horizon

By: Chelse Elliot

Curled soundly
In my cave of night,
Protected in
concrete aloneness.
The soft glow
of longing
Drew me down long
empty corridors
filled with red ferns
that my eyes did
not crave.
Detached-
I lay
under a hard blanket
of resignation
and finally rested
in sleepy stillness.
In the shivering dawn
You came to me
With embers of
warming grace.
You gently
embraced me, breathing
life
into hope.
A glad knowing
filled my heart;
Your light
erasing the grey walls.
Indifference disappeared
into the misty morning.
Your fingers traced
my face,
stroking yesterday
from my brow-
Kisses kindling
strobbing passion,
Interlocked
in cascading delight...
swirling and swaying
Touching
magnetically.
The world shifting-
As the thunder in my soul
Echoed the flash
of your lightning.
An invisible storm,
two souls melding
in the
loving glow
of the endless
horizon.
Peaceful calm
fills my soul.
At home...
In the arbor
of your arms.
