Fools' Game
by Tyler R. Converse

Have you ever wondered if there?s a divine joker above,
Taunting and teasing with this game we call love?

Is he sitting there laughing, ?Haaa, you lose again??
Does he type in the message, "Game Over, my friend?"

Is it mere coincidence that we all seem to win
When the prize that is sought, is us, by a friend?...

Who professes his love, and gets a top score,
But he?s never the one you love or adore....

How the more you love him, the more likely you?ll lose,
And how purely we?re loved by the ones we don?t choose?...

How the ones we don?t want are the ones we can have,
But the one that we need is the one we can?t have?

If I reversed my tactics, would it work out the same?
Could I master the race and take first in this game?

If I loved my friend, could he still fall for me?
If I ignored my love, would his love come to be?
