ALL I KNOW
by MARK ALAN BRICKEY

I HAVE SEEN THE BEAUTY OF A SETTING SUN
AS IT TURNS THE CLOUDS TO A SHIMMERING PINK
I HAVE SEEN THE LOVELINESS OF THE FINEST ROSE
WHEN IT COMES INTO BLOOM IN THE SPRING
I WATCHED AS THE WINTER CAME AND WENT
AND MARVELED AT THE CHANGES IT BRINGS
I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE BEGINNING OF A LIFE
AND THE DEVASTATION AS ANOTHER ONE ENDS
I HAVE SEEN THIS WORLD CHANGE SO MUCH
FROM A PLACE OF HOPE TO A DEN OF DESPAIR
I DON'T REALLY THINK IT WILL SURVIVE
AND I DON'T THINK ANYONE CARES
THE YOUNG PEOPLE ARE TOO BUSY KILLING EACH OTHER
TO UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RIGHT AND WRONG
AND ARE TOO TIED UP IN THEIR OWN LITTLE WORLDS
TO REALIZE IT'S WITH THEM THAT OUR FUTURE BELONGS
BUT AMONG ALL THESE EXPERIENCES I HAVE HAD
THERE ARE FEW THAT CAN COMPARE
WITH THE FEELINGS I HAVE HAD SINCE I MET YOU
AND THE JOY I HOPE WE CAN SHARE
