Lost
by Janet M. Gardiner

I waited for you
By the steps,
But you weren't there.

I continued to wait,
Beginning to think,

You didn't care.

I waited for you, again,
By the brook,

The place we met,
Where my heart you took.

I went to your house,
To seek answers true.

When I got there,
They were grieving,

Everyone but you.

So I wait,
By the steps,

But I know you won't show.

If our love would work,
I guess we'll never know,

But what I do know
And always will,

Is this:

I loved him always,
And he'll be deeply missed.
