Distant Memories
by Amber Lynn Patrick

As i look back i can only dream of what it could have been.
I try so hard to forget, because i know it can never be,
but distant dreams still flood my memory.

I remember when my eyes first met yours,
there was something there, but we were in two seperate worlds.
It didn't take long and i was able to call you mine and i was yours.

The way you looked at me still carries in my memories,
if i had only known then... how careful i would have been.
The things you said, so passionate, so true,
the way i tossed it aside, like it was nothing to you.

If only you knew the regret in my heart,
the tears i cry of true love and a wonderful dream of you.
If only i could tell you how much i still love you- because i do.

I don't want to scare you, but the words i say are true.
I mean it with all my heart and soul,
but fear it is not enough for you.

I hope it is not to late, but if it is my heart still longs for you.
You carry on in my heart like water to a plant
and my love for you grows as the days go by
still wishing you were here by my side

and praying each night-
Dear God, make it right, you will come to me,
and true love, please just let it be.

This is all sincere and i hope you care, I love you.
I have never said it and meant it more.
You were my first and always will be.

I hope the feelings are the same,
but if not- you're still my number one,
i love you and will carry on.
