I thought of you
by Chris   Clapster

As you left and walked out the door for the last time
As the memories of us and all we shared washed over me
...I thought of you
As I left my parents and moved out on my own
As I grew and became a wiser and stronger person
...I thought of you
As I got my first real job and met new people
As the world around me was changing
...I thought of you
As I went out and met other men
As I was piecing together the qualities I wanted in my soul mate
...I thought of you
As I met a man i grew to care for and made a life with him
As I read to my children and told them stories of my youth
...I thought of you
As I looked around me and wonder where the years have gone
As I close my eyes and take my last breath
I think of you and how you where suppose to share this life with me
