Being Loved
by Margaret C. Rigsby

You are sleeping peacefully
as I slide into the bed
trying carefully not to awaken your slumber.
It is as though my mere presence
next to you delivers you from your dreams
as you, in one fluid motion, gather me
into your arms, kiss me and tell me of your love.

I press closer and link our bodies into one.
Your touch, your love
feels so safe.
I thank God for you.
As I close my eyes, I feel peace in my heart.

Now, I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
If I should die before I awake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.
In the meantime I have you and blissful peace.
