My Soul
by Kenneth Charles Brooks

My soul, my heart, my spirit used to be dormant.
I was certain of my spiritual death.
One night I felt a tiny stirring.
Another spirit called to me.

My soul, my heart, my spirit used to be dormant.
I was certain of despair and loneliness.
One night your soul called to me.
I could not hope, I could not care.

My soul, my heart, my spirit ached to be alive and free.
Your spirit, a soft breath, I felt you.
You spoke to me, I heard you.
You said awaken, I breathed deep.

My soul, my heart, my spirit adore you, love you.
I have joined you, I am alive.
Your love revives.
We are one.
