My Lover, Partner and Friend
by David Love Wright

With fire-lit eyes and a dazzling smile,
You opened the door and my heart went wild.

The magic of this moment so good, so new,
As I breathlessly gaze at you.

With a gurgle of laughter and a girlish glee,
You smiled and said something silly, teasing me.

Me laughing and glowing and silently knowing-
That laughter... is part of the yreal' me.

I turned again to see you smile,
I turned again and now my life is worthwhile.

Each of us has our own secret gifts,
Magic potions, thoughts and lovely notions.

I always thought I had them, but never knew,
Until I discovered the gift I sought was really you.

Now I smell the perfume of your life,
Intertwined with mine in a silvery blend,

And I can think and dream of only you,
A precious lover, partner and friend.
