The Truth
by Mary Elizabeth Blessing

The smile on your face is the light that guides,
Guides my fingers to touch your face.

Trace the lines of time that say...
    They know, they have seen,
The wisdom in your eyes is the patience of time
Telling me... wait, this town is so small,
    The people- they talk.

The truth in your heart is the love we share,
Saying you care with a touch or a glance,
Pleading with my heart to wait.

The ring on your finger begs me to stop,
    Think of my actions,
Think of the pain this love could cause.

The shine in your smile that glows in your eyes
Tells me..... Now!
The time is right and your arms are open.
