parting
by Rhonda  A

The blazing star rushing down to us,
Screaming for us... to make a wish.
You utter "never will we part"
As it fades away into blackness,
Promising to marry, one sweet day.

Friends and family, in awe of our love,
Plead for us to wait
Decisions made to love and wed,
Changed when you found you had to go,
Promising to come back, one sweet day.

Iridescent moonlight gazing down upon us,
With no reality in sight,
You whisper your undying love,
As you walk away,
Promising to return, one sweet day.

The neverending cloudburst decending from above
With no reality in sight,
I await your promise of return,
As I cherish our memories together,
Anticipating your return, one sweet day.
