Turmoil and Tests
by Todd  Behrmann

Spirits torn asunder,
Loving souls placed in turmoil.
Are we nothing but a cruel experiment
A test by gods long forgotten,
A test of time and distance,
Of patience, of lessons learned;
A different path than ever taken before,
A different path, not taken alone,
Trying not to relive past mistakes and anguish,
But seeing them, feeling them.
Their pain strikes up to interfere
No matter how hard, no matter how bravely
We fight to keep them at bay.
Like demons with blades of fire
Piercing the hearts of those who dare.
Daring to dream, to have courage.
Not as easy as it seems-
With pain comes fear of the past,
A day at a time this path must be traveled,
Not separate, but as companions
Complimenting one another.
