Goodbye To Love
by Ricardo Saul LaRosa
I waited and waited with the patience of a saint,
To no avail because my blue valentine did not return,
I hoped and hoped with a hope that forever springs eternal.
No phone call,
No message whilst I slept dreamily.
Another Valentine?s Day just passed,
I stood outside in the cold looking at the moon,
Calling out your name; praying for you; crying in silence,
As my heart died for you!
There are no more tears left in my eyes to cry,
There is no more hurt left in my heart to feel,
There are no more dreams left of us together again,
There are no more poems left in this poet?s heart for you.
I must be true to myself and admit that all hope is lost,
Not because there was a lack of love on my part nor yours,
For you loved me with all the honor, dignity, and passion,
A woman could ever bestow upon a man,
For this and much more I shall always love you in my heart.
I shall always adore you for what you have meant in this life,
But my life, this life, must continue,
I have so much to give and love floods from my soul,
Hence I must declare:
Goodbye to love!
