WHAT I TOLD MY HEART
by OKWUDILI PAUL NWANKWO

Refrain! Refrain!
For the real thing has died
Even the one you have borne
Has played you under the sun
So, refrain my shattered soul

Passive! Passive!
And move along with the world
Too much brooding leads to Hades
Besides nature's call for love active
Play passive, my poor person

Caution! Caution!
If you must ever gamble
Since miracles elude the conservatives
But opportunity calls but once
Have caution, my hapless heart!
