Empty Heart
by Anne Catherine Miller

I cannot express my feelings
For I have none inside of me.
And things that were so thrilling,
Now are mere trivialities.

And I do not dream at night,
Or hope during the day,
For I?m always in this cruel fight,
Slowly wilting, fading away.

Do not ask me more of my tale
For there is nothing I can tell.
So, just walk alone, my friend,
As I bid you my last farewell.

But do not try to understand,
And pray you never will,
Because if you do, my friend,
You?ll hurt and never heal.
