A Beauty That Glows
by Patrick T. Mc Alister

I have been thinking that I would be alone forever
since you decided I was no longer needed
in your life or my children?s life.

There are moments in my days where this feels evidently true
as I stare at the scars caused by years of
playing to close with a jagged knife.

Then in a moment of complete loneliness I closed my eyes
and you came back into view.
At that moment I knew you were still a friend.

We have been separated by mistakes and months of pain
yet in my heart I know that our friendship
will never end.

When I heard your voice, a calming feeling came over me.
We shared our thoughts, and in your voice I heard
something I haven?t heard in years.

In a world full of darkness, despair and hate,
your voice emanates such a beauty
that it quiets all my fears.

You bring a beauty to this world that is surely needed.
Providing a glow to those you embrace
with your words and smile.

If you should ever need a shoulder to lean on
or an ear to bend, remember I am here for you
to walk another one of lives miles.
