Half Moon
by James J. Metcalfe

The moon is only half tonight
And that is how I feel
Because when you are gone from me
My life is never real

I am but half as happy
As when you are at my side
And I have only half as much
Of courage and of pride

I find no more than half the joy
In any smile or laugh
And every time I hear your name
My heart is torn in half

My memories of yesterday
Divide my dreams in two
Because one half of all of them
Belong so much to you

And I am never more than half
Of what I want to be
When you are gone because you are
The other half of me
