One Woman One Love

By: Lawrence Anthony Bauer

If only I could find a way
To stop shedding all these tears
I lost my one and only love today
We were wed for forty five years

She was my life, my everything
My heart is filled with such pain
I don’t know if I can go on
I pray everyday for this to wane

It wasn’t suppose to be this way
I always supposed I would go first
She entered heaven as an angel today
And I have to remain on earth

We were only fourteen when we met
I loved her at first sight
I knew she was the girl for me
I could see her in the light

So very young and in awe
Our love grew everyday in every way
Puppy love is what it was called
But no one could ever take it away

We married at age seventeen
With joy and hope in our hearts
Way too young, all had foreseen
We proved them wrong from the start

God blessed me with a wonderful wife
A soul mate so loving and divine
She provided me with a beautiful life
And she was always true to mine

We had three children along the way
Two girls and a boy
She was there for them in every way
She did all of this with joy

A wonderful wife, that is for sure
But as a mother none could compare
She gave her children love so pure
She was amazing at providing their care

I look back at our wonderful, loving life
How very lucky I was to have married her
Just to have spent one day with my wife
Was like living in heaven on earth

God gave me forty seven years with Alice Fay
For this I will be eternally in his debt
I will continue to honor her memory every day
And treat her memory with the utmost respect

I wait for the day when we will meet
In the beautiful heavens above
When I hold you in my arms again, my sweet
Again to share our wonderful love

I will see you again, my beautiful wife
I will glide with you thru the clouds
We will be together in eternal life
I love you, baby, I scream aloud

One woman, one love
This is so beautiful
I thank God above
For making it possible
