What is Love?
What does it mean for two people to be in love?
Is there an indisputable infatuation
For each person’s physical attributes?
Do they feel the mating of souls so closely meshed together?
Does sensuality and sex set forth the relationship,
Be it often short-lived?
Is there a genetic predisposition for two to become
So intimately involved?
Are egos and external forces guiding
And forcing the pseudo love unapparent?
Is the Bible correct in its firm position
Of matrimony between a man and woman?
Are same-sex couples a product of the Devil,
Or just genetically compatible?
Marriage is the ultimate gift
For a man and woman, or a couple to share.
They promise their constant love and devotion;
A trust e’re unbroken.
Sex and sensuality have different meanings later in life.
Companionship and ritual take the place of passion and risk.
So, love is a bond that persists for many years.
It ebbs and flows like the waters of the oceans.
But one thing is certain, that is the need for each other,
And a desire to compromise when needed for the concern of both.
Love is passion
Love is trust
Love is infatuation
Love is companionship
Love is never broken
Unless it leave us behind,
Where we become self-centered,
Egocentric, and un-empathetic,
Leaving the other in a subordinate and depressed role.
That is what kills a marriage.
That is what breaks a heart.
That is what tears a family apart.
That is the consequence of not being trusted.
Therefore, we must not be controlling.
We must not be passive aggressive.
We must not break our vows to each other.
But we must be kind, gentle and reliable
At all times, good or bad,
For each other,
So our love will stay true.
This I say to you.
You have my heart forever
In the palm of your hand
To hold in a love so true and bright.
