i couldn't get the moon for you,
i tried and tried, but it wouldn't budge.
i couldn't get the sun for you,
i burned my hands with every touch.
i can't buy you diamond rings or necklaces of pure gold,
i just don't have the money for those things,
but my gift is much more bold.
i wished upon a star that night, when riding in your car.
i wished for your kiss, your love, and to never be apart.
now here's the message of this poem,
and forever it will be true.
it's not that i can't give you these things,
but that i tried, just to show my love for you.
