Another Chance
I met someone new--
a new feeling,
a new smile,
a new touch.
I thought i would never feel new again,
scared to let my heart have another chance--
another chance to love only to be crushed again,
a chance to be torn.
My mind and heart were at odds.
My mind wanted to escape from the world,
not allowing myself to love,
not taking the chance to be hurt,
but my heart wanted to feel alive;
it wanted to feel the joys of loving and being loved.
I let my heart win.
"Only one more chance," i said,
and realized that my heart was right.
I could love again.
