if only I had you

By: Kenneth Ray Carmichael

you know those tropical flowers with the long names
they wouldn't have to bloom
and summer wouldn't have to creep closer in june
and the long days wouldn't have to turn
and the sun, it wouldn't have to burn
and no, the sky wouldn't have to shine blue... if only i had you

no longer must the green grass grow, or rivers flow
and honestly, there doesn't have to be any rainbows
if only i had you, the world can go do whatever, wherever
because we're finally together... but the rain doesn't have to fall

the moon doesn't have to scream and beam across the night
and nothing has to be wrong and nothing has to feel right
if only I had you the world could finally stop spinning
and my dead end road would finally have a new beginning
