White Rose

By: Daniel J. Mishko

Like the long white rose,
I see you rare
and beautiful

Towering
in a garden
of weeds

Shedding your
reflection
for miles to see

I was just a red rose
(a tulip
in disguise)

My head bowed
in shadows, watching
weeds entangled

But your omniscient
beauty, surrounded
me with light

Embraced me
in your
gracefulness

Igniting
blue flames
of life
