Broken Promises
I hoped you would be different
That you would not hurt me
You swore that you would never cause me harm
But you did
You realize the agony that you brought on
And you say you are sorry
But that doesn't take away the wounds I caused because of you
We were supposed to last forever
I guess your definition is different than mine
We were supposed to be each other's personal therapist
You were mine
You picked me up when I was down
And you kept me going when I didn't want to continue
But you, you need time to figure things out on your own
You don't want me to be the push you'll need at times
You still love me
But you don't want to be with me
You care about me
But you don't seem to care that your actions
Have caused me suffering
And caused me pain
You swore that you would never hurt me
And promised me that again and again
But I guess promises are meant to be broken
