Beach Dreams

By: Robert M. Topp

Water etched by rip tides
Pounds upon the beach.

Shells made brittle by the tides
Crunch beneath our feet.

Water beads upon the pier
Like tears the stars have dropped.

A single tear falls down my cheek
For daylight can't be stopped.

The night is dark and infinite
But each one buds, blossoms and fades.

This one I'll pick and put away
To remember in coming days.
