Fractured Love
How many times have I looked at you
And wondered where you strayed,
Wondered to what memories you wandered
Or what secret hopes filled your heart,
Wondered in doubtful times
if you wanted to leave
To find another life where only gentle
chimes echoed across the morning light,
And church bells rang triumphantly at
midnight
I know I bring a fractured Love
A heart pieced together at great cost,
Eyes scarred from too much seeing
And ears dimmed with a plethora of sounds
I bring you a face marked
by time's relentless sculpting
A memory, circumscribed by joy and
disappointments
A mind cluttered with unfinished plans
And half-completed hopes
But most of all the Love and courage and
tenderness I posses
And I only fear when I look at you
withdrawn and distant
And wonder were you strayed.
