Togetherness

By: Richard Frederick Cullison

I often sit and wonder why
If I'm the last to die
Should I be granted a temporary stay
My life, at best, would be diminished
Alone, confused, but not yet finished
A time to grieve, reflect and pray

In this great scheme of things
Where some have horns and some have wings
Why are mates not allowed to go
Arm in Arm, Heart in Heart
Mind in Mind, never to part
Together down that last row

Some tell of Silver Linings
Golden Rays forever shining
And joyous angels singing evermore
If this be so, I hope to see
A time for her, a time for me
Together on that Golden Shore
