A Daughter's Sadness
by Carla Marie Adair

I can't remember what I did
that made you hate me so,
the hardest part of everything,
is still, I do not know.

I tried to make you proud of me,
but nothing seemed to work
and there I was just standing there
feeling very hurt.

You made me cry and hurt me bad,
you made my heart feel very sad.

Now I have three children,
of them, you'll never know,
you will never laugh with them,
or even see them grow.

and of you, my mother
...they will never know.
