I'd Take it Back
by Natalia M Smith

I'd hide the lonliness.
I hold on to 'till this day.
Somewhere where no one could find it.
In a bright and blinding sun ray.

I'd lock away this pain.
My daddy's granted me.
Take the key and throw it,
Into a botomless sea.

I'd take back the first cut.
The most painful slice of all.
I surrendered into weakness.
And keep hitting the same wall.

I'd extinguish the fire.
That burned my pale skin.
The pungent smell of burning hairs.
Brought me warmth within.

And all I did was smile.
Watched the tears turn to coal.
Felt the numbness coming back.
The needed feeling to my soul.

I'd take back all I did.
In this stupid, wasteful life.
Cut this breathing air off.
WIth my pretty shiny knife.
