Lilacs and Wine
by James  Walters

Arrayed in silver,
The whiskey sky
Summoning sorrow.
With sweet aromas
Of lilacs and wine,
With songs remembered,
The black breeze
Draws the memories
From the secret well,
Until the tears begin,
Until breaths deepen and quiver,
Until the soul moans
And prays
To forget.
