Evil Pain & Love
by Alyssa Anne Vitry

Cruel, silent world which holds laughter by the fist,
And love by the gut;
Evil, deathly land which kills everything it can touch
Mean and nasty place where no children reach their dreams-
I, am the keeper of 'nothing's what it seems'
I lay you off to sleep at night and fill your head with thoughts
Love and hugs and kisses sweet and marriage over all.
But when you wake I'm there to take your dreams back to desires
And fuel the world with reality and take love to the fires.
I tempt you with what you can't have and make you want it more
I wave true love in front of your face and keep it far from store
And am I happy for all this pain and heartache that I give?
If you, too, had a life without any love, would you then want to live?
