A Love Afar
by Jeffrey Henry Curtis

Almost fourteen hundred miles,
Or seven-point-three million feet,
My Baby lives without me there.
As I dream always of my Girl,
Us apart is very hard to bear.

With 90 million paper clips,
Each joined together, end to end,
Reaching from her finger to mine,
From New York, traveling across
The Louisiana State Line.

This girl I have never seen,
There being six states between us,
But I love her with all my heart.
Loving her is simple because
Our two hearts never are apart.
