Sands of time
by Susan Rae Nott
The smell of your after shave lingers in my bedroom,
A momentary remembrance of a love once in bloom.
A soft kiss and a warm embrace are mine once more,
You’re here in my heart, not on some distant shore.
I gave my heart, body and soul; all you did was take,
I dream of you, but you’re gone, as soon as I awake.
With the passing of time, I think of you less and less,
This is the process of healing, happens to all I guess.
I can no longer recall your features, only your name,
The years go quickly by, I forget who was to blame.
Now I find, you were always hidden deep in my heart,
We were never forever, only until death tore us apart.
