When Forever ends
by Sarah M Ames

Silver stars of joy shone in my eyes,
As I looked at your face,
so perfect.
a smile danced on your lips as you
caressed my face with your hand,
so gentle.

your breath tickled my ear,
as you whispered,
"I'll love you, forever".

Well, maybe, I'm mistaken,
maybe, I'm the fool,
But, my vision of forever,
was much different from yours.

In my mind,
forever... is eternity.
until the last stars fall from the sky,
and the moon slowly closes it's eyes and dies.
Until our very soul departs from our imperfect bodies.
To me... that is forever.

To you, it is a simple word.
where are you now?
What happened to forever?
You are gone, and I am here alone,
wondering if we'll find... forever, again.
