My Valentine
by   J.E.I.

I need to ask you something...
But I'm very scared, you know,
Scared that you will just ignore me,
Or say coldly, "No!"

It breaks my heart to think
You might not feel the way I do.
It scares me when I wonder
If I'll ever hear you say, "I love you."

It's hard to put into words,
How I feel about you.
My words will be very simple,
But I'll try to make them true.

The moment I first saw you,
My heart started to jump.
I couldn't seem to speak.
In my throat was a lump.

You hardly seemed to notice me,
As if I wasn't worth your time.
And yet, I still loved you.
Is that such a crime?

I can live without you.
Please don't get me wrong.
But without you in my life,
The days would be much too long.

I don't know how this feeling
Came to be so strong,
But it feels so good.
I just know it can't be wrong.

And yet, sometimes I wonder
If you'll ever care for me,
And if, one day soon,
Mine you will be.

I've tried time and again
To just forget about you,
But my heart refuses to let me.
What's a girl to do?

So now, please answer this,
With all I've said in mind:
Will you give your heart to me?
Will you be my valentine?
